Council response
The Council recognises that table tennis is an accessible and enjoyable way for people of all ages to be active outdoors, and welcomes the petition’s interest in expanding provision across the borough.
We are undertaking a borough-wide Play Sufficiency Strategy and will add this request to that list. We will retain this petition as evidence of local demand and consider opportunities for additional outdoor table tennis provision, including the suggested locations of Palewell Common and Vine Road Recreation Ground, alongside other priorities and future investment opportunities.
There is currently no identified funding for additional outdoor table tennis tables, so any new provision would need to be considered alongside other priorities and available funding. The Council will also explore opportunities for residents, local businesses and community organisations to support recreational facilities in parks and open spaces, including the potential sponsorship of table tennis tables, building on existing approaches such as memorial bench sponsorship.
