The road leading into Peldon Court is Zone G, whereas the surrounding roads are all Zone J. As a result of this it is not worth purchasing a parking permit since most of the time all of those spaces in that area are taken and it is a considerable walk (and potentially unsafe for single people parking late) to the nearest Zone G spaces. There are always spaces on Sheen Road (Zone J) outside the block of flats. If it were possible to park in those spaces as well as the Peldon Court road spaces more people would buy a permit and this would help alleviate the parking problems currently experienced by all car owners in the block. We are not looking to introduce parking restrictions to the main car park, only change the designation of the spaces on the entrance road.

Council response
There may indeed be some spare parking capacity in Sheen Road (part of existing Zone J). However, with 100 flats at Peldon Court, the Council will need to consider the impact of incorporating these properties into the zone. Our view is that if this request were to be taken forward, through consultation with existing properties in Zone J, the whole of Peldon Court (including the car park) should be included in the proposals – effectively adding 50 spaces to the zone. This would be with the main aim of minimising the impact of the change on the zone.
The Council will await the submission of the petition and once received will accordingly consider the matter further.
