If you live, work or study in Richmond borough, please sign. Our voices cannot be ignored. Richmond Council is proposing to close Kew Riverside Primary School in September 2027. No decision has been made, but the announcement is already creating the perception that closure is happening. The consultation is open until 16 October 2026. We are asking the council to give Kew Riverside a fair chance to rebuild its pupil numbers before making a final decision. This is a school that works. Its July 2026 Ofsted inspection was highly positive. Inspectors described pupils as happy, confident and responsible individuals, praised staff for building positive relationships with the children, and found the school to be highly inclusive. The full report is available on the Ofsted website. Year 6 results have been above the national average three years running. The school is not in debt today. It ended March 2026 with 231,685 pounds in reserves. The deficits the council quotes are forecasts, and parents have asked to see the full figures behind them. The council itself says the proposal is not about quality. Kew Riverside is the kind of school every family hopes to find. It is happy and high-achieving, it sits at the heart of the Kew community, and families call it an extension of home. Inclusion is at the heart of the school, where the proportion of pupils with SEND is far above the national average. Several families say it is the only school that has met the needs of their child, after trying nearby schools or exploring dozens of alternatives. Small classes in a lower stimulation setting, with staff who know each child well, help pupils thrive. That cannot simply be transferred elsewhere. Closing it would take away something Kew cannot easily rebuild, a place where every child feels safe, settled and supported. And if the school is no longer here, what happens to the building and the site at the heart of our community? We ask Richmond Council to withdraw the proposal, publish the full evidence behind it, and work with families on a plan to keep Kew Riverside open. Please sign, respond to the consultation by 16 October, and search for Save Kew Riverside online to find out more. Please help us. Your voice matters. Thank you.
