Install a network of public water fountains and bottle-refill stations along the Thames Towpath, fully operational ahead of Summer 2027.

The Richmond stretch of the Thames Towpath is heavily used by runners, cyclists, and walkers, yet it completely lacks accessible drinking water. With summer heatwaves becoming a regular occurrence, this lack of infrastructure poses a serious health and safety risk. Why It’s Needed: Health & Safety: Prevents dehydration and heat exhaustion for residents exercising outdoors. Animal Welfare: Provides a vital water source for dogs and local wildlife during hot dry spells. Sustainability: Reduces single-use plastic waste, keeping the borough and the river clean. We urge Richmond Council to include this initiative in their upcoming infrastructure planning, installing robust, multi-tier fountains (for people, bottles, and pets) at key points along the towpath in time for the Summer 2027 season.
