One Way traffic on Bushy Park Road

Statement

We would like the Council to: make the section of Bushy Park Road that runs from Kingston Road to Fairfax Road one-way to traffic; no entry at the junction between Kingston Road and Bushy Park Road; and add traffic calming measures to slow down traffic travelling on Bushy Park Road.

Details

Since the opening of the CoOp on Kingston Road there has been a marked increase in traffic on Bushy Park Road entering at Kingston Road, parking on the double-yellow lines and then travelling down Bushy Park Road to Fairfax Road. This has resulted in an increased risk to pedestrians crossing Bushy Park Road on Kingston Road, the view onto the road and from car drivers onto the pavement is severely restricted as a result of cars parking on the double-yellow lines. Furthermore, cars leaving this position travel down Bushy Park Road often at high-speed causing additional danger to pedestrians. As the road is currently two-way many cars have to reverse to allow others to pass. Reversing in a narrow road with a bend has resulted in a marked increase in damage caused to parked cars.
