Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown is the most famous landscape designer in English history. He worked at more than 250 sites, many of which were in Greater London. This talk describes recent archival research, carried out in collaboration with the Northumberland Estate, to better understand his work at Syon, one of the best preserved Brown landscapes in the country. Susan has researched gardens and landscapes in England from the 17th-century through to the 20th-century. She was closely involved with the Capability Brown 300 year anniversary (CB300) celebrations in 2016 and continues to volunteer with the London Parks & Gardens Trust as well as carry out private client work.
