Proposal

T1 - Oak - FELL A large and prominent Oak tree providing visual amenity but one which is within falling distance of a high target (gated residential estate). Visible and significant canopy decline with deadwood prevalent. Large defective limbs visible and prone to failure (dead branches and hazard beams are prolific and previous failures are prevalent). Exudation visible on stem and indicates biotic stressor such as Honey Fungus or Acute Oak Decline. Tree is prone to failure and due to its stressed vitality will not tolerate the heavy pruning required to feasibly retain it. This tree should be removed and all neighbouring Oaks should be surveyed to determine whether AOD or other pathogens are becoming colonised within the population. A significant canopy reduction (pollard) could enable the tree to be retained in the short term Mitigation planting will be undertaken in accordance with any conditions related to the consent for removal (2 x Fagus sylvatica in an appropriate setting would be applicable).
