Rethink Vine development- smaller scale to better suit the space

Statement

We call on Richmond Council to rethink the Vine Road development (PA26/1786) and pursue a simpler, more proportionate plan for this small recreation ground, bordered by homes and railway lines. We want to preserve its history and much-loved community features, including the paddling pool, protect its green and open character, and ensure public funding is spent carefully on improvements that are community led.

Details

We want a scheme that: • Addresses traffic and highway safety, particularly at the Vine Road crossing, which has already been identified as a point of severance. • Protects the paddling pool and historic community features that give Vine Road its character. • Respects neighbouring homes, ensuring new facilities and activities do not create unreasonable noise or disturbance. • Uses public money responsibly, focusing investment on simple, valuable improvements rather than unnecessary development. • Brings the community together, creating a recreation ground that works for residents of all ages rather than becoming a source of division. We support improving Vine Road. We simply want those improvements to be appropriate to its size, setting, history and local community.
