Following local resident feedback regarding parking extensions, we are petitioning for a review of the parking restrictions and zoning for Burlington Avenue and West Park Road with an expectation the local council carry out resident consultation and provide actions based on the following factors: • Increase in traffic and parking congestion impacting residents, particularly on weekends and special event days • Increase in road rage incidents from non-residents • Concerns around safety from speeding cars and unsafe parking practices • Increase in demand for parking on event days from Brentford Stadium, Kew Gardens, Village market days resulting in residents not being able to park near their homes • KA permit holders (non-residents) parking long term in streets surrounding Kew Gardens station • Environmental impact of increased idling due to traffic blockages
Current parking restrictions are currently 10am-12pm weekdays and no restrictions over the weekends. This has led to an large increase in cars using these aforementioned roads for free parking to access the Kew Gardens Station, Kew Botanical Gardens and Brentford Stadium. As a result we have increased congestion with residents often unable to find parking in their own road. With recent changes (larger capacity Brentford Stadium, 3 months of Kew Lights events, new cycle lane preventing parking on Kew Road and increased parking restrictions around residential roads surrounding Kew Green) The road has become a hotspot for free parking. This also includes other KA residents who also park in Burlington and West Park Road to avoid walking to the station on their commute into London for work.
