PROTECT THE CORNER OF GOULD ROAD & CRANE ROAD AGAINST INCREASED TRAFFIC OR LOSS OF ON-STREET PARKING

Statement

Not allow any future development or alterations to the Greggs bakery site which would include access or egress at the corner of Gould Road and Crane Road if it could generate more traffic than was previously generated by the sector of the site currently accessible by vehicles at that site entrance, or could result in the loss of on-street parking to make that exit policy-compliant in terms of road safety.

Details

Both Gould Road and Crane Road, and the corner outside the Gould Road entrance to the Greggs bakery site are already frequently impassable due to two-way traffic approaching the corner on single lane roads, with regular near misses, blockages and incidents of road rage. The entrance previously only served the Gould Road sector of the Greggs bakery site, with parking for only 23 cars. Any traffic exiting the site poses a risk to pedestrian & vehicular safety and puts added pressure on the adjacent streets. This would be increased to an unacceptable and unmanageable level if any future use, alterations or development of the site were to generate more traffic at this corner than previously generated when it was only used to access the car park and offices as there is currently no through-site road.
