We, the undersigned, petition the council to abandon all plans to replace the existing Whitton Library site with residential premises and undertake a long term commitment to protect and retain Whitton library and the valuable services it provides the local community in its present location.
This busy library is of great value to Whitton community and should be preserved especially at a time when the importance of reading should be reinforced.

The Council is committed to maintaining a permanent library in Whitton and improving this valuable community asset in the long term. The existing Whitton library building is in need of some refurbishment and enhancements. As part of considering how best to progress these the Council is exploring all options, including the potential relocation of the library to an alternative site very close by on the High Street. Any decision is some way off and would be subject to consultation and a planning process.
